E

n transformant le naturel en extraordinaire, Les Deux Garçons insufflent une vie nouvelle, mais aussi un sens nouveau, aux animaux et objets qu’ils choisissent de ressusciter. Fascinés par l’éphemère et l’aléatoire de notre existence, par les subjectives visions de bien et de mal, ils confrontent le spectateur à leurs créations à la fois belles, étranges, touchantes et choquantes. Ils utilisent la taxidermie comme un puissant médium visant à nous déranger, mais surtout à nous contraindre à aborder différents sujets tels que les frontières ambiguës entre la vie et la mort, entre fantasme et réalité…

*Les animaux utilisés dans les sculptures de Les Deux Garçons ne sont jamais sacrifiés sur l’autel de leur art. Toutes les composantes animales sont recyclées suite à des causes naturelles de décès. Elles sont ensuite proposées aux artistes.

Biographie

  • 1965Michel Vanderheijden Van Tinteren is born in Heerlen
  • 1966Roel Moonen is born in Maastricht
  • 1986Both Roel and Michel study art at the Academie Beeldende Kunsten, where they first meet, Maastricht, France
  • 2000Roel en Michel start working together under the studio name of  »Les Deux Garcons  ». They live together in Landgraaf.
  • 2016Museum aan het Vrijthof consecrates the art of Les Deux Garçons by presenting « Pure », an important retrospective of the duo’s work with more than 120 artworks, mostly from private collections, Maastricht, Netherlands
